Gouldian losing voice?

Post by StodOne » Thu Apr 14, 2016 11:53 am

My female gouldian started making weird sounds instead of singing she makes a sound like she has water in her nostrils but in the same rhytm as she would sing .
Anybody had this before and knows what this is?

Females don't sing so I'm not exactly sure what you mean. Is there any discharge coming out of her nare's?

Female Gouldians do not sing. Definately sounds like she is sick if there is water coming out of her nares.

debbie276 , wilkifam
No not the song , you know the sound females make (I cant think of the word right now it is not singing , the short sound they make)
Not the courtship song , the squeaky one .
She does that after drinking water , it sound like she tries to chirp but she cant .
She doesn't discharge anything , and is lively .
And I will try to explain the sound like this (It might seem strange how I explain it sorry :P )
You know the classic meep meep meep gouldians do ?
Well when she makes the sound she makes it sounds muffled like her nostrils are filled with water , she used to do the meep meep meep sounds , now all I can hear is like "brrp brrp brrp" , but I don't hear it often only after she drinks water and tries to sing.

Maybe she's gargling?
I don't think it's really anything to worry about but would keep an eye on things just in case. May just be a funny little habit she picked up at the water dish.
good luck

debbie276 Maybe something got jammed in her throat ?
I have been giving them sprouted proso , so maybe it is possible that she couldn't swallow the whole seed because it was sprouting?
Is that something that is even possible what I just said  ?
