HELP with diagnosing....it is so CONFUSING !!!!!!

First thing in the morning and first thing when I get home from work in the afternoon, I walk into my aviary and check on everyone. I noticed my male YB gouldian who is going through molt right now is looking weak and not as strong a flyer as he always has been. I know when molting they don't act and look "normal" like I'm used to seeing, but when their flying is weaker... that is a definite tell-tale for me. But what is it?
I have others molting but they are not having any noticeable issues that I can tell. I caught him and first thing was feel his breast bone and it did not seem sharp to me. I treat for ASM and worms so I don't think it's that. So what does that leave? What should I do? I will catch him tonight so I don't stress him out any more for a while and put him in a hospital cage with heat, but I'm at a loss from there. This diagnosing birds thing is so difficult!!! I read not to treat unless you know the problem, but I don't know the problem, so I wait and end up losing a bird?!?!
So question....once they are in a hospital cage with heat, what is the next step when you are unsure? This particular gouldian has been very healthy and beautiful until now. I am VERY open for suggestions. Does molting cause them to become weak looking especially in flying? I will check his droppings and let you know what I see.
