What are your thoughts regarding cement perches and do they help to keep the claws trimmed?

I use Living World's pedi-perches, but with many of my waxbills, I still have to trim nails. Some waxbills grow nails so fast that it doesn't matter what kind of perch I use, I can almost watch them grow! For the average finch, I think they do help, as I don't have to trim nails on other species. Each cage has a pedi-perch next to the waterer, so the birds land on the pedi-perch each time they want a drink.

Thanks Sally. I can't fathom having to trim all those little bails. Hope the pedipetches will work.

It seems to work on some birds but not others.
My wife's canary needs regular trimming of his claws, despite having a perch that is "supposed" to wear down his claws.
So the only thing that you can do is to try a few and see if/how they work, then make your own call.

I do remember my early days, when I used a sandpaper perch. The birds AVOIDED that perch.
So I figured the perch has to have a smooth top, where they land, and the rough abrasive on the side.

Onest opinion.....absolute rubbish, no serious breeder would ever use these,

It's basically like you walking about on a shingle beach continuesly in yer bare feet

This is just normal pet shop junk and only fit for the bin

As for toe nails , a quality pair of normal human nail clippers is all that is needed,

Birds nails normally only need checking once every 2 months
