Are these red/black mites?
Im infested on the wooden nest boxes and anywhere there is water so drinkers, food dishes and in between perches and bars near the water bottles.
I've tried Avitrol but ran out of that recently. I want to get more. Ive even bleached the boxes but they still come back.
These things appeared on new wooden nest boxes even prior to use with no nesting material. Why!?

I don't know for sure, never have seen them, but here is an article on red mites:

Hi mate,
To me they look bigger than yer normal red mite, I would say that they could possibly be the larger grey northern mite,
Any normal anti-mite spray should be sufficient to eradicate these

If you can get it, Vetafarm's Avian Insect Liquidator is supposed to be effective against mites.

Thanks.
I've started to dismantle my bird room and remove nests not in use. I need to eradicate these throughout because they are anywhere there is moisture, so water drinkers etc.
They're a pain in the butt to get rid of so all the while its warm and humid I'll have a problem. Grrrr

It's not always easy when it's humid conditions, I hope you can manage to solve the problem as best as you can
