QUICK QUESTION, HELP!!!

OH NO!
Last night I took my finches' water dish away around 1130pm in anticipation of dosing them for meds in the morning. Well, I overslept and rushed out of the house to work, completely forgetting about their water.
I won't be home until at least 6pm. THIS IS GOING TO KILL MY FINCHES, RIGHT?!?! How long of a window do they have without water before they succumb?? I'm freaking out!!!

My dear, they need water ASAP!!! They've had no morning drink!

Call someone and get them over there sweety!!

Take a 2 hour lunch and zip home if you can! By now they have not had water for at least 13 hours.

Agreed. They can go longer without food than without water, just like us. If you can take a break and run home, you should be able to catch them in time.

signs of dehydration are squinty eyes, dried withered red skin, legs... young fledglings that have not mastered drinking on their own can be seen standing squinty-eyed and standing very tal, almost like the legs are stretched.

I think that is great idea for sure! I'd do 1 part pedialyte and 3 parts water.

Hi there,
I do do hope that yer birds will be ok, small finches normally start to perish at around 24 hrs, after this they'll normally go down hill rapidly,
Try to get home and water asap,
Remember you took the water out late last night so they won't be awake until day break, they'll be without water for around 12 hrs or so give or take,
They should be ok by the time you get home

I once accidently left my beloved society Cacklejax (in the pic) and his gal's water on the TOP of the cage instead of INSIDE for 8 hours. When I came home and opened the window door to give them the water, his gal Deuce nearly flew out to meet me (she tried to squeeze through the door to get to the water)in desperation and they both drank for a good 10minutes.
We have all had these mishaps. Let us know the news.
