Couple of days back i have bought a beautiful male gouldian cock RH Lilac chest .The bird was eating when i saw in the shop and even on the way to my home was active and looking at me.
After releasing the bird in a spacious cage with a female yellow back lilac chest RH hen the bird went all quiet .He dosen't moves much and sits it one perch with slightly puffed feather .I guess he was sick and i couldnt notice in that less time while buying .

1.The male bird never sings and makes a clicking sound with open mouth and tongue very often.My female also makes a similar sound but less often .
2.He rubs his head with his foot every now and then.
3.Is he suffering from air sac mites ,i could see in his foot also some skin shredding .

I could only get Ivermectin 6 mg tablet from a medical store. If yes please let me know the dosage ,how to give it? with water etc.

The effect if given to other birds sharing the cage .
Its a bit urgent please reply .

Is there any way you can return the bird, or do you want to? A bird that shows signs of illness immediately upon getting home possibly was sick when you bought it, or it could just be showing signs of stress from the move.

New birds should always be quarantined for a time from your current flock, not only to protect the birds you have, but to protect the new bird from anything your birds might carry. As part of my quarantine procedure, I treat for air sac mites and worms, and then just watch the bird. Personally, I would separate this bird, put a heat lamp on him, and keep an eye on him.

I agree quarantine is a must since some illness and parasites are easily passed.

Clicking can be anything from mites to respiratory, trichomonas, parasites (not mites), bacterial so this is hard to say....best to return him like Sally suggested, tell the owner of the store. I would also watch your other bird for signs of anything passed.

Thanks Sally & Cindy . I cannot return it before Sunday due to some reasons. I am based out of India .Till then I would try to treat the poor bird . Can't see it that way, he looks beatiful otherwise .
I asked about scatt and s76 , they are not available in medical stores.
What do the symptoms suggest ?
Any idea how to use Ivermectin ?

I will definitely try to return the bird on Sunday.
