This is the 3rd year we have the female with our male.

We never actually wanted this pair to breed but male is being really pushy so we decided to put a nest and some nesting material so they get distracted and play :)
first of all unlike his parents, our male and the aviary born female from a broker couldn`t succeed on making the nest at all.

Parents of the male were wildcaughts and they made the nest in one week, laid eggs and had the babies in no time. (Literally one month after we got them)

So this couple is completely unsuccessful, they work on it, it looks like nothing and then we add more material, again they work days on it and whenever we check no nesting material even existing in the nest.

so after 2 months we removed the nest and the nesting material but now she lays eggs. They drop on the floor cos she lays on the perch.
She already laid 9 eggs in few weeks and she got egg bound once last month (sved via liq calcium and heat)
Also egg bound again yesterday and again liquid calcium from mouth and heat saved her today.

we give resting season seeds
once a week boiled eggs
once a week lettuce
once a week apple

have crushed eggshells, f vite, charcoal, cuttle bone, alfa alfa greens and herb salad, sprat millet and a heatlamp over one perch always available.

Don`t know how we can stop her from laying, so scared she won`t pass next time and die.

I would put a nest back in, some sort of a nest box, with nesting material inside.
If she's laying anyway, maybe she'll lay in the nest box. If she lays a clutch and sits on them, at least she'll have a break from laying, and possibly raise a nice batch of babies for you.

Good luck.

I`ll try that Elana but we really don`t want any more babies :) A puppy is on the way won`t be able to handle more birds

Congratulations on the upcoming puppy ( I just got my pup a little over a month ago).

If you don't want any babies, I would seperate them into different cages.
Shorten her daylight hours , cut right back on the egg food for a while, and she should eventually stop laying (we hope :D )
