I just noticed that one of my female zebra finchs has what appears to be dry legs/toes and swollen toes. Ive noticed her pecking at her toes a few times. Is there anything I can give them that will eliminate this issue? I have 4 and she is the only one with this problem.

Is it scaly mite??? Are/have other birds had a mite issue? If not mites is there something in the cage that irritates the feet like sand perches?? As an alternative to medication. I've read that putting neem oil heals irritations in the skin.

Madcat I only have four birds, and she is the only one with this issue. This is my first time owning birds. Out of mites, bumblefoot, and gout, it looks the most like gout. Ive been trying to get a picture but I have been unsuccessful. They do have 1 sand perch but I have never seen her on it. What is neem oil?

Ok. I'd get rid of the sand perch and opt for natural branch ones if varying diameter. I read on a post here. Neem oil comes from the neem plant. Good for rashes and various skin irritations. I'd try that before medication. You can buy on amazon. ( Probably find it cheaper there. ) anyone else have a suggestion? I heard raw coconut oil on the feet is good too . Gets rid of skin fungus.
