Last months I purchased a few young society finches, they are very active, among them, there is a pure white body with pink eyes.

one week later, I found it died on the bottom of cage, it caught me out of surprise, I suspect it might be egg bound, as I found a small egg on the floor later, with very thin egg shell.

2 weeks ago, I went to a bird show, and bought a few extra society finches, and one of them is a pure white/ pink eyes.

all of them seems happy, singing, flying or squeeze together in the nest box.

however, last night, I found the pure white one died on the floor!!!

I could not believe it, btw, I have treated all of them with mite, canker etc....

I had one, she was huge and very healthy, but she had bad eyesight and bumbled around at a much slower and more cautious pace than the other finches.

gouldian_finch, I have 2 solid white societies. One with dark eyes and one with red eyes. The dark-eyed one is definitely a stronger bird.

I happen to have a small group of Whites with dark eyes (which are actually considered Pied, without any dark colouring).

From what I recall from my reading, there are pink eyed Whites, that have been around for a while. Apparantly many of them were not considered very strong. Some had very poor eyesight, with some developing cataracts and becoming completely blind over time.

Now they have the Albino Socies, which are considered stronger, and don't appear to have as many health issues and eye problems.

Here's a picture of my guys who have been with me for years. They actually bred for me some years ago, and produced one male baby, as white as the parents.

I find them quite attractive.
