hello. I have 4 all DNAd Java Finches. 3 females and 1 male. one of the females has paired off with the male.

the one I'm concerned about (not paired to the male) I have found on the bottom of the cage, tail up, little fluffy, some heavy breathy. It's like she wants to lay an egg or breed. I took her to the vet and she is not egg bound. A few minutes later, she up like normal.

They all get good diets, seed, minerals, calcium, veggies.

Anyone she this before, thoughts?

thank you

correction, she is paired to the male and now is jumping into the nest. The male is in there when she is not

Could she be ready to lay her clutch

bobsinoregon, do your Javas have eggs yet? Your male must be very busy trying to keep all of his women happy.

My Java hen is very bossy and she keeps Mr. Java (Java the Hut) on a short leash. She is sitting tight on eggs but if she's ready to come out of the nest, he had better jump in there lickity-split or she lets him have it! The girl is only vocal when she is chewing him out! %-(
