Hello,

I just noticed that my 3 year-old Society Finch has some growths on her beak, almost like "tusks" on the top beak. Is it ok to trim this and does anyone know what causes this??

Thank you!

One of my society finches had something similar a while back, but just on one side. Not sure what causes it, but it was just the one society with the excess beak growth. I was going to take her to the bird groomer, and then one morning I found the extra growth had flicked off on it's own.

If you bird has had this for a while though, it may be a good idea to take her to the bird groomer or a vet to have it trimmed. I personally would not attempt to trim a beak myself.

This will probably have to be trimmed off.
I have trimmed beaks, when there was access growth on the end of the beak, but never one like this.

If you have an avian vet close to you, I would recommend taking your little fella there.
