Not sure how old is the oldest Gouldian on this Forum (maybe Debbie ) might know,
However from what I've read and heard, Gouldians life spans can range from 5-12 years, depending on general health, genetics, proper diet, and living conditions.
In the wild, life spans tend to be shorter, due to disease, pollution, weather, disappearing habitat, water and food availibility, or lack thereof.
In captivity, birds can live longer.
That said, it all depends on proper care, optimum diet, proper housing, hygienic practices of their keepers, disease prevention and disease treatment where relevant, and again genetics, as well as luck.
I have read of some birds living up to 12 years, but the average life span (as far as I know) is somewhere around 8 years.
Wow that's great.ann wrote: My gouldians typically live to be 12, and I had a green singer reach the ripe old age of 22.
