I have a female zebra finch who was egg-bound and was treated by my avian vet yesterday. She's in a sick cage – a Vision cage that has the food and water dishes at the bottom. Last night when she got home, she could not perch (she tried). She ate a little but not much. Today, she moved around a bit in the morning and though she went to a paper towel with seeds I had laid out for her, I don't think she ate much or anything at all. Right now, she's perched on her water dish with her head tucked behind her wings.
I am awaiting a call back from my avian vet, but has anyone had experiences like this with a post-egg-bound finch? Any advice on what I can do for her? I dread the idea of taking her back to the vet, as handling has caused her so much stress already.

aeriadne Has the hen passed the egg? Usually, once they have passed the egg, they perk right up and act like nothing ever happened. Did you offer her some heat with a heat lamp (can be as simple as a 60w bulb in a gooseneck lamp)?

I was thinking the same thing as Sally. If the egg has not been passed, this is not a good thing.
What exactly did the Vet do?

She died this morning, everyone. I thought she was recovering but I just discovered her.
She was such a good, sweet girl. I'm going to miss her so much.
