Hello Everybody, i am a bit confused about s76 i have 3 new birds which i think may have airmites i decided i will treat all of my birds. I have other birds aswell one is by himself others are in pairs and i also have a cage with 6 cockatiels. I gave them nv powder for 3 consecutive days and will start treating with s76 tomorrow. I read that if they have symptoms i should treat each bird for 5 consecutive days behind the neck but they are always preening each other and i am afraid they might eat it or it might get into their eyes. I also read i can add it to their water but if too many mites die at once it can asphyxiate the birds. Wat would you guys recommend me to do??

Individual Bird Treatment
Individual birds with symptoms of air-sac mites should be removed to the hospital cage for treatment. Treat with emergency support - Thrive, NV Powder or Quik- Gel - one day before the application of the undiluted S76. Apply directly to the skin on the bird’s neck for 5 consecutive days. Continue using the emergency support in the drinking water (mix fresh daily) for the 5 days of treatment.
so yeah. do individual treatment and continue with medicated water or food as well.
lol the more mites you kill the better and faster recovery for the birds so dont worry about that part.

Are you absolutely sure the birds have ASM? If you take the bird and put it close to your ear do you hear ticking, or do you hear a wet sticky sound, or a huffing puffing sound?

Hello i am the same person that posted about getting new birds and not placing them on quarantine.cindy wrote: Are you absolutely sure the birds have ASM? If you take the bird and put it close to your ear do you hear ticking, or do you hear a wet sticky sound, or a huffing puffing sound?
When i got the new birds one of them kept opening her mouth and she is also missing feathers behind her neck i havent heard any of the things you mentioned i can heard them making regular finch noise and thats about it.
Another one of my finches is also missing feathers especially on the left side of his face and all of my birds rub their beak in the perches and scratch and kind of bite their back they seem to be itchy and missing feathers. Ive never given any type of medicine to my birds ( i will deworm them in a few weeks).
Also the store i got them in had a bunch of birds at the back and there were probably 20 in a rectangular cage and the store was not the cleanest there were also cages right next to their cage that had other types of birds i feel like it is possible they have mites.
Eventough ive had birds for years i am barely learning about these things and now i know i probably shouldnt have bought them at that store (too late now).
Treatment I Did:
I mixed nv powder into their water for 4 days on the fourth day i treated a finch with s76 behind the neck the next day i treated the rest of my birds (17) and mixed nv powder again. i decided it would be better to threat the cockatiels, love birds and parakeets with scatt since i only have to apply it once and they are harder to catch i will continue the s76 on the finches since 1 has 2 days left and the rest 3.
