Another black toe

One of my gouldians developed a bad toe a few weeks ago, which fell off. I've been keeping an eye on his foot, and I noticed yesterday that another one of his toes was getting dark. Today it looks worse. Does anyone know what's going on? If this keeps up he will have no toes. There are a few avian vets in the area, but they know absolutely nothing about finches.

Did you check with a magnifying glass under a strong light, to see if there isn't a hair or a bit of fiber wrapped around this foot or toes?
