Quarantine
Hey guys it's me Nick again. Not sure if this is in the right area or not. I recently moved my lonely male Pearl into the new cage I got for my birthday. He seems happy right now the way I have it but I was going to go out and buy him a bride today. I cleaned my small cage for quarantine but not sure how long she should be in there before sickness shows. I know your not supposed to stick a new bird in straight away but want to put her in as soon as I can. How long do I have to wait?
Nick

There are all different opinions on how long to quarantine. Let's be honest, some of it depends on the value of your collection. Those who have large collections of very valuable birds may quarantine for anywhere from 3 to 6 months, but most of us don't have to go to that extreme. I will quarantine according to where I got the birds. If they are from a friend or someone I know and trust, I will do a short quarantine of 2 weeks. If I don't know the breeder/source, I will quarantine for at least a month. If I am really in doubt about the breeder/source and don't trust them at all, I don't buy the birds. Not worth endangering the health/lives of the birds I already have.

Re: Quarantine
I just look at there feet and poop and if it doesn’t look normal I’ll quarinteene linger thn two weeks but if everything’s normal then I’d quarantine for 1 week(that’s if I know the people are genuine breeders or a pet shop I’ve bought from before
