I have a female i noticed thismorning with a pretty nasty injury on her beak. Ive never seen this before so i dont know how to go about helping her. I cant find any information since the location is odd and ive only had the tips of beaks break off before. This is more like a chip out of the side by her eye. Looks very raw and sore. However she behaves normal and just mated with a male as im writing this. No eating issues. Just looks really bad. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I think she will be fine :) I've had a couple zebra finches missing half their top beak or even all of their top beak. There isn't really anything you can do for them but if they seem fine and they're eating fine then I wouldn't worry about it :)

Thankyou! That makes me feel much better. I wasn't sure what to do, but she is acting completely normal and she's even nesting so it looks like there will be some babies on the way from her as well. :)

You're welcome :D Quite annoying when it happens but at least they can still live a perfectly fine life. Best of luck with getting baby finches!

I can't quite figure out which part you are referring to...

The part with the green line, or the part with the blue line?

Finchluv I always say add an iodine block into the cage and let her eat it off not crumble a tiny tiny bit into the water or food this always works for me worked with foot injury and a beak problem I had where the beak was peeling also it’s worked with a pet shop and I told them to do this for feather loss and it cane back

It looks like that area was either pecked by another bird, or she either caught it or cut it on something sharp.

I would keep an eye on it to make sure there is no infection setting in. Maybe dab a bit of antibiotic cream on it with a tooth pick and rub it in with finger.

She seems to be better. I thoroughly checked my cage because I was concerned there was something sharp as well that could have done this. and all seems okay so I think there must have been some violence when I was away. is there a brand of antibiotic cream you recommend? I only have liquid on hand, and I think the cream would be a better option to keep on hand.
