Hello! I have a new canary hen, and ever since I got her home, I've noticed she's having a problem with one of her feet. She keeps it lifted up most of the time and even seems to have trouble landing on a perch sometimes, as if this leg/foot is hurting her.
I was able to catch her with a net today and get this photo. Can anyone help me diagnose what might be going on?

Re: Canary Foot Problem
I think this may be called slip toe however I’m not certain I’ve never dealt with that issue but seen posts about it
I just know it’s caused through not having enough nesting in the nest when the chick is a hatchling and whilst the bird develops also I don’t think there is a resolution for it
Goodluck and I think icestorm might jnow

It looks a bit like bumblefoot, as her toes look a bit swollen. I'm not exactly sure how you would treat it, but some people soak the bird's feet to try and reduce the swelling. I'll have to look into that more later.
I'm not sure why her middle toe is tilted to the side, but that alone shouldn't cause any issues. Maybe it's just the angle making it look odd. I've got a Java finch with a malformed toe tip, and he perches fine.

Yes I was going to say bumble foot as well. I know that there is something you treat it with but I can't think what it is. I think Miss May knows how to treat bumble foot so she may be able to help you.Icearstorm wrote: hfinney
