Need help saved WILDCAT BIRD (java)

Post by Fraza » Wed May 02, 2018 4:49 pm

So today someone message me on my sale page saying I’ve found a wild finch hurt I think it’s escaped it has a metal ring

Anyway I went there it was two mins away from my house and it was a java sparrow and it’s been viciously attacked by wild birds as u can see below by the pics all the plucked feathers

It also has damaged feet, and then dislocated enigma it can’t flap them right

Finally the ring indicates it was bred in 2016 so it’s 2 years old

I’ve give it liquid that helps with feather loss iodine cuttle bone , boiled egg, green veg and mixed seeds hopefully he recovers soons, any other advice ?

And my last point I’m not going to put him near my other birds he’s being kept away until he recovers I don’t wont mind catching out as he’s been wild

Poor baby! He's a pretty fawn. Lucky someone found him. Some store bought egg food might be good. You can leave that in a long time. The boiled egg is very good, if he will eat it. Try grating it and you can even mix some grated carrot with it or shaved broccoli tops. Finely crushed egg shells are good too. Hope he recovers nicely.

wildbird yea that’s a good idea I might try that

They have been a proper bully to him/her anyway the wild birds his wings can’t open right they go outwards instead of up so he can’t fly right

His wings might heal in time. This little bird has been through a terrible ordeal. It's going to be a long time until he feels safe again. Probably got out of an aviary or cage. Pretty bird, even with the missing feathers.

Can the bird hear the other Javas or any other birds? He might feel more secure if he could hear and see them. He should be happy to hear Javas, but I don't know about the others. Maybe remind him of the wild birds. I wonder how long he was out there.

wildbird well you can see his/her crops and they look quite small they are smaller than my fledgling java ones now but then again is this just cos it’s older

And I don’t want it near my other Java’s because I don’t want it passing anything to them like mites etc

He’s getting abit better this morning having a little tweet, he’s so incuisitive always looking around and watching everything

That's great! Sounds like he is getting used to you and coming along fine. They are smart little birds.

So today he/she is learning it’s self how to fly again it’s crouching really low then doing a big jump and flutter and landing on a perch am so happy after endless days of watching it falling and getting its feet stool along the bars

You're so lucky it's a male! They seem to be hard to get around here. I can't get video on my computer. He's going to be a really nice bird!
