dander?

Post by tex » Tue Jul 10, 2018 6:26 am

Still learning i pointed out to my wife the tiny white specks visible on the dark surfaces of the furniture and she said "thats dander" when i asked what it is she explained that it is dead skin off the birds which are free to fly around my living room....all new to me,never heard of it!

I don't think birds do have dander but in the case of large parrots they do have feathers that disintegrate into dust.
Have a nice day!

Feather dust and dander are used interchangeably and either term is acceptable. The source is breakdown of fine feathers close to the skin. All birds have it to some degree from minimal to abundant. Dander is most notable in larger hook bills.
Its significance is mostly in the potential of allergic reactions to dander.

Just curious. Which Manchester are you in?
Aside from the one in UK there is a Manchester in practically every US state and Canadian province.
