Baby gouldian barely hanging on

Post by paddywack » Tue Jul 17, 2018 8:27 pm

Can someone help me? I have a gouldian that left the nest 6 days ago and was found on the bottom of the cage today. I started him out with sugar water, moved to egg food, and now am feeding pellets mixed in sugar water through a syringe. He is also under a ceramic heater. Any suggestions as to what else I can do?
It takes a village . . .

Late coming to this, but do not use sugar water. Just plain water is much better. You can get hand feeding formula at many pet shops (my local Petsmart carries it--Lafeber's brand). That will have all the nutrients that the baby needs to grow. Once it is time to wean, you can introduce seed. Spray millet is easy for babies to eat. They will also eat egg food on their own, plus many veggies.
