I don't know anything about gouldian
Planning to purchase him from craigslist person.
They will only sell him alone.
Will it be ok if I can't find a companion for him until next year. Hard to find in my area.

If you're in south east USA I have about TEN of those little rainbow farts for you to choose from!

Unfortunately I'm out west in California

Does it look like he has a bakd spot on his chest or just a reflection of the light?

When a male gouldian moves around, his chest his will separate & show underfeathers.

If he's singing and looks upright, head up when relaxed and confident (which this bird does) he looks like a good male.

Nice looking bird. There are a lot of Goudian breeders in CA. I'd go to a local bird show/sale and we what you can find.
