Is iodine a necessary thing to add to finches diet?

Has anyone used this product?
Any other product to help add iodine?
What are the benefits of adding iodine to finches diet?

I add iodine all the time I just leave the blocks around and occasionally grate it in the seeds because it helps with illnesses etc

Iodine is tricky and can cause thyroid issues easily with an overdose.
If you want to give them a little iodine just sprinkle a very small amount of table salt w.iodine into the water you boil their eggs in.
Rinse, .peel and serve. That diluted amount should small enough to not pose a threat.

Organic kelp granules are high in iodine and potassium. I put a pinch of it in the birds mineral dish. I thought it has been used to stop balding in Gouldian Finches.
