I have never had air sac mites - but brought 3 new Goulds in 2 weeks ago and they were not finished with their moult. This is the first time I had ever seen juvies and the way they look during the moult. So, I put everyone on S76 and they have had their 2nd treatment and next week will have treatment #3. But, my question is when I do this as a prevention from now on should I do it 2 days per week for 3 weeks like I was treating for the illness or just one dose for a couple of days and then do it again in 3 months? How do most of you do it?

I use s75. I treat mine every three months for two days in a row. I usually do it on the weekend. And I do this for two weekends in a row.

I use Morning Bird's Iverlux, and the directions call for 2 days in a row for 3 weeks in a row, so that is what I have been doing. I do think I am going to stretch it out to every four months, as it is usually recommended that they be treated 3-4 times per year.

Let me ask another question. Since I am treating them in their water, and I use water tubes, I put the treated water in the tubes Saturday morning and leave it thru Sunday. Monday morning, I put fresh water in clean tubes. I make up a fresh batch each weekend for 3 weekends in a row, but I leave the mixture in the tubes for 2 days. Do any of you who use Iverlux or Ivermectin make up a fresh batch each day?

I don't know about the Iverlux. I know the s76 has to be made up daily.
I like it thought because I put it in all water, even what they bathe in and they say its great because it kills anything on them when they bathe.

Sally - From my experience with ivermectin - which is the active ingredient in iverlux - at the vet clinic that I worked at, we would mix the appropriate dosage for a patient that would last them for one month with strict instructions to keep the bottle in the fridge at all times. If the mixture is not kept cold then the ivermectin disentegrates and is no longer able to do its job. What ever was not used within the thirty days was thrown out and they came and got a refill. So I would say to mix up what you need for the weekend, and keep half of it in the fridge, replace the Saturday dose with the other stored half.
