Baby goulds eating paper

Post by trljr14 » Sat Feb 07, 2009 5:26 pm

My baby goulds are a little over 5 months old.I cleaned the cage today and there was a hole in the paper.I didnt see any bits of paper.I think they are eating the paper.I give them charcoal and crushed oyster shell.I use to give them grit but no more.Anyone have any idea why they would be eating the paper, tom.

LOL - they are not eating the paper persay but rather they are 'playing' with it. My baby Gouldians do that all the time and so do my adult Societies - but they are ripping the paper to get nesting material. The babies trade the paper back and forth - it's great fun to them.

Baby goulds are very curious little birds. Mine are always investigating something out there in the aviary. They are fun to watch......
