I have my birds on a 3-month cycle with Scatt and treated two males today.

I wanted to give all my birds a treatment of Worm Away as an annual treatment. I mixed it up and gave one drinking dish (with WA) to each cage. But I have one drinking dish left over. I did not give any to the Societies with the RCCB and Star babies. Nor did I give any to the two males who got the Scatt treatment today.

Can I give this last drinking dish to either of those cages or do I have to throw it out?

I'm not sure, Liz. I have a bottle of Vetafarm's Wormout gel, and it doesn't say anything on there about babies or interaction with other products.

Same as Worm Away - no mention of when to use or when not to use...

I am not sure either about the worm out / away... I know you don't ever want to worm cats or dogs while pregnant of nursing.... but with birds? I never have, I try and worm the birds as a preporation before breeding.
I probably wouldn't mix with the scatt either.
I just wouldn't risk it especially since it's just a preventative and can be given later.

I found several sites that list the ingredients and how to measure and some of them say it is: "safe for young and adult birds". I wonder how young is young?

I use Moxidectin from the Australian Pigeon Company and because I had hatchlings when my birds were due for their "medicine" I rang the company to ask about the babies and was told "only birds that are feeding independently should be given the treatment"

From what I have read moxidectin is an ingredient in Scatt

I've contacted Bill Niven, the owner of Morning Bird, about this myself.
I have had customers ask me about the safety of the product when using it on birds that are laying, incubating, with nestlings, etc.
He assured me that it is 100% safe to use at any age, at any time during the bird's life cycle.

I have tried it myself - using it on birds who had nestlings, and I did not have any problems.

Thanks Tiffany - I gave it to my Societies this morning. On the weekend, I will give it to the males that got their Scatt; then everyone will be done for the year.
