Antibotics and Probiotics

Post by peter tan » Mon Oct 05, 2009 5:02 am

Hi All

An update on my earlier post of 27 September 09, which informed of Sick Finches but were eating well...

I had 2 Gouldians that went sick in the same manner, unfortunately one of them pass off on 2 October and left with the other one. I managed to receive Amoxitex from USA on Friday evening and I immediately administered to the other one who was sick. Good news that after the day, he went back to recovery and he is well now. =D> The other one collapse onto to the floor of the cage grasping for air before he pass off. Could they have got some respiratory problem?

I have administed Amoxitex for three days now, how long shld I continue giving him? I know Probiotics shld be given, can I give it to him together with my other finches in the main cage, as I can see him calling to join the rest!

I have also read about Chlamydial ( Tetratex) and non Chlamydial ( Amoxitex). What is the difference with Chlamydial and non Chlamydial infections.

Thanks

I would continue the antibiotics for at least seven days. Then you can give the probiotics for the same amount of days. It will not hurt to give all your birds the probiotics. That is good for them. Sorry can't answer that last question.......
