Is cherry wood safe for finches or any birds?

I would like to know if cherry tree is safe for birds, in our case finches? I have prepared about 10 perches off cherry tree for my finches' cages. I am planning to change every perches with natural wood perches.

I think wood from any of the fruit trees is OK.
3 Purple Grenadiers, 1 Goldbreast + 1 cat.
