Antibotics or Stress related illness?

Hi,

One of my Gouldians was ill and I placed him in a hospital cage to treat him 7 days with antibotic and he went perfectly well in the cage. At the end of the 7 days, I put him back with the others and continue all with probotics.

Once in the cage, he was happy but felt scared with the others for a while. After one day, he started to bury his head into his back and showed a little fluff during the day break. After a while, he started to behave normally, including eating his meal. In another while, he started again to bury his head to his back.

I am wandering whether he is stressed with the others or he requires some more days of antibotic. His droppings seem fine.

Do anyone had this kind of experience with their Gouldians. Grateful, if you could share some of your experiences and how best to deal with this.

Thanks in advance

What kind of ilness did he have? Digetion problems, breathing problems?
Could be that the antibiotics just temporarily alleviated some of the symptoms but did not "cure" the ailment.
Could be stressed by another bird in the cage.... have you notice any tension or fighting/chasing?
Sounds like the bird still has a problem, I would remove it. Sometimes they can have ilnesses that need different type meds, like airsac mites, mega bacteria sulpher meds, etc.
Sorry he is under the weather but it is important to keep him seperated from the rest of the flock. You would not want it to spread to the others.

Is he going into, out of or is stuck in a molt? Like Candace said, please tell us what the illness was that he had before. If it was something like air sack mites, then its possible there was a secondary infection from the dead mites in his "throat."

Dear All

Thanks for the reply & help.

In this past, this gouldian had some digestive problems, including diarrhoea. I have taken him out and place in a separate cage, and he seems fine without doing the fluff and head behind his back...
