I have a male Gouldians who was sick so I removed him form the aviary and brought him indoors for treatment. I used scatt to treat him for air sac mites and other antibiotics and he is getting better. I now want to treat my entire aviary and just purchased S76. I mixed it correctly with the water but do not know how often to treat my aviary. Do I give it every day for a certain amount of time? Anyone know the regiment for treating the birds for ASM with S76?

Also, I have 1 nest with babies (a couple days old) and one nest with eggs. Has anyone treated when there were babies in the nest?

One day a week for 3 weeks. So just pick a day, Sat, and do it for 3 Sat in a row. I think it is safe for nestlings.

Yes, S76 is safe for breeding birds and birds feeding young. DO TREAT TWO days back to back for 3 weeks. I usually treat for 4 weels to make sure the cycle has been broken.
Also remove all bath water and withhold all foods that offer moisture, such as fruit, soaked seed, veggies.
Remove the waterers from the aviary the evening before dosing. Mix a fresh batch and offer in the morning when birds are thirsty and drink the most. Mix a fresh batch daily as the med only stays activated for 8 hours or so.

I am very proud of it as I designed and built it myself. My birds have been doing great until this one got sick with ASM my fault for not doing proper quarantine procedures.
The biggest bummer is that he was sitting on 9 eggs with his mate (7 fertile) and she gave up when I took him out. I want to treat all my birds as a preventative as I can't imagine that only one of my birds has ASM.

I just got 2 new society finches that are being quarantined inside together. Would you guys treat them for air sac mites as a preventative. I'm not sure if they could have them and carry them into the aviary without symptoms.

I have been told that the cage must be sanitized as well and maybe even use a mite/lice spray on it also. When they wipe their beaks on perches they can contaminate them. I wish there was a test you could use on them to be certain it's ASM and not just some sort of upper respiratory infection or aspirated food or drink.

When I did the flock treatment, I treated EVERYBODY, including the societies. My logic was the societies could be carriers, with the mites in the societies, just not affecting them. I figure better safe than sorry. So now S76 treatment is part of my quarantine procedure, to keep ASM from coming into the flock.

For ASM I don't really know how much cage sanitation plays a big role.
The mites (if present) do not live well or long enough outside of the body to even transfer across the room to birds in other cages.

I think cage sanitation for mites is most important when it comes to feather and blood mites.

Also - if you treated with SCATT, I don't think you treat right away again with S76.

If you are adamant about treating also with S76 - I would wait three weeks until the SCATT is out of the bird's system.

You can treat the other birds in your flock, I'm just making sure you didn't intend to treat the SCATT treated bird immediately with S76 too.

And yes - I believe it is the same as Iverlux, 2 consecutive days for three consecutive weeks in the water, or 1 drop on the birds' skin for 5 consecutive days.
I would repeat again in 2 weeks after the three week treatment is complete (or in 10 days after the 5 day topical treatment) to make sure you get the full life cycle.
I have never found the treatment guidelines for any ASM med to be effective as indicated.

With SCATT, I always re-treat in 3 weeks after the first dose.

I just had an interesting experience w S76.

I put it in the water for a new finch in quarantine. No egg or other moist food. For 2 days the bird hardly drank.
Today I gave him egg and water + NV powder and he drank 1/3 the water.

I don't know if it was the NV powder or the egg that caused him to drink more.

If that is what it will take to get him to drink, I'm going to redo his S76 treatment but this time with NV powder in the water and egg.
