health question

I have one gouldian that makes a noise that sounds the same as if a person would exhale quickly and with some force out the nostrils. Not as forceful as blowing the nose. I hear this every day only occasionally. He still sings an awful lot.He doesn't seem sick.

I also have a cordon bleu that sounds like she has the hiccups only the sound is more of a chirp. Her belly moves when the chirp sounds and it is at intervals like hiccups and happens several times per day.

Anyone have any ideas on these two noises?

I also have a few societies that will open their mouth for a little bit sometimes when I am looking in the cage , but only when they are in the nest. The nest does have eggs in it.

Now that I think about it I do have one society that points his beak up with his mouth open like he is yawning and then shakes his head. I see this occasionally . I have had him for four months and he has always done this.

I do not hear any clicking noises from any of them.

Search the forum for "air sac mites," that's my guess. But I am not an expert on this and never had any in my birds. *knocksonwood*

The sounds that the gouldian and the cordon bleu sound normal to me. Does the cordon make a tic, tic, tic, tic sound like a timer counting down for a bomb to go off ? If so normal :!: and for male gouldian they will sometimes make a sound which is hard to describe but its most likely sounds like the first note of his song but he stops immediately kind of what i would call a bird sigh
