LG feet looking scaly/red

Post by aero » Mon Nov 16, 2009 1:39 am

Hi,
My male LG has been having some problem with his feet, he keeps pecking it. It looks red coloured and not as nice as it used to be. Further, both the LGs have a little dry and scaly feet with many lines on them. I have noticed that they aren't like the zebras - zebs have a moist looking feet, and smooth looking. Is thir normal?

And, what treatment can be given for this kind of feet that looks reddish, like it has some infection there.

I have given Apple Cider Vinegar with bath/drinking water for yesterday and today.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Sounds like scaley foot. My female canary had it once. You can use Scatt or S76. I used S76 to clear it up, You can use a cotton swab and apply it directly to the feet. Please do not buy one of the mite sprays that pet stores sell. If they breathe it in it can kill the bird!
