Zebra finch liquid filled bubble

Post by loulou » Sun Feb 07, 2010 5:17 pm

my female zebra finch is losing its feathers. It has small some bumps on its neck and now it has a bubble filled with liquid with small ball moving inside of it... The finch is eating and acting normally and does not seem sick otherwise... Any ideas?

I think you are looking at its crop, where they store the food and water that they eat, until they can digest it.
The crop is along and below the neck.
You can see it in an unfeathered hatchling/nestling, but once they feather up the feathers hide the crop.

Thank you for the information, it is normal to see through the membrane of the crop?
