bird droppings not right??

Post by jimlas43 » Sun Feb 07, 2010 9:32 pm

I was wondering if anybody knew what could be causing this stool problem in my Blue Capped Cordon Bleu. He is in quarentine right now because I brought him home just three weeks ago. His feces are not the right color. More orangy. I wouldn't say they looked bloody and he doesn't show any more signs of the coccilia problem but his feces are more watery then they should be and with an orangy center.
any ideas??
I also bought a society from a whole different place and he seems to have the same problem. Both are in quarentine.

bird droppings not right??

Post by jimlas43 » Sun Feb 07, 2010 10:39 pm

this is more rusty orange then red. All my birds eat a blue seal finch seed, I mix in a little Skipios egg food, tonic seed, alfalfa ( when not offering fresh greens ) topped with an eggfood that make with boiled eggs, abbagreen 92 or 95? I just started adding cod liver oil but just recently. Millet once in awhile. I also sprinkle a product called Bag O Bugs on top of the egg and just started adding blood worms to the Cordons that I have. That is a recent addage as well. All my birds eat the same thing and nobody exhibits the signs in their droppings like this one pair and the Society.

Hoang's right, some info on diet would be very beneficial. Are the society and the bleu together or seperate? Were they purchased from the same place?

Society was bought from Pet Smart and the Bleus from a couple who supposedly showed them and they one first in show.
I just posted the diet as well
Thanks

Colored Pellets can give an orange tint to the stool, sometimes rust color. I know if I feed certain egg foods, gold colored foods they have different stool colors. Are they puffed, not eating, are they drinking and acting off?

The Cordon pair is acting very normal actually.Society as well.
I dont feed pellets either. The male is actually picking up pieces of string and doing his little hops with a song to court her.
Someone kept telling me that is could be the coccilia ( spelling? )
but there is just no other signs of something like that.
