Baby Zebs Curled Tail Feathers ...

My fawn Babys tail feathers seem really curled under, he/she is in a cage with my pied baby of same age, its not irritating him or anything but was just wondering if theres anything i can do ? I think their going through first ever molt but they dont seem to be replacing tail feathers yet ...

Now this is testing my memory, but when i was a kid i think i remember something about it being something possibly to do with cage size ? there in a 2ft x 2ft x 2ft cage for a little while longer ..

They were born on new years eve .. if that helps ..

any advice/ opinions appreciated

If he's not plucking at them or wherever they may be curled under and touching him - then I wouldn't worry about it. Once they get into a bigger cage and he moults them out - all will be well. If the feathers are curled so much that they are touching him and irritating him, then I'd defnitely look into getting a bigger cage sooner rather than later, but I think he'd be okay there for a little while.

Are they getting in a nest? this can cause curling feathers. Also it the perch is too close to the bars of the cage this will also case some curling.

No they dont have a nest at minute, nor are the perches close to bars, mmm tricky one lol ...

As for bigger cage i just have to complete vinyl tiles on floor, and kit out inside i.e. fetch branches, set up feeding station and purchase a heater then they will be moved into 8" x 6" aviary so hopefully space won't be an issue much longer
