I didn't notice my gouldian's beak till I brought him home. He is a male, part of his beak is light colored and the tip is red. It looks like the lighter part is layered over the red tip, sort of like a fingernail that peels or splits. It is not smooth like my other birds. Could it just be a vitamin deficency :?: He only had artifical light from he ceiling and he was in a lower cage where the light was dim.

I had questioned his head color because it was more orange and he was supposed to be RH. I was told once he got more light the red would get darker ,which it seems to be doing. I think he is gettng a better diet now with vitamins, veggies and egg food.

Any info about the beak :?:

If you have a picture that would be the best way to tell you both the head color and what the beak problem looks like. It sounds like it *could* be a vitamin A deficiency.
