I bought a nice male RH WB normal yesterday and have him isolated in another room. He appears to be in great condition, he is eating, drinking, tight feathers, dry vent, poop looks fine, good clean feet, bright eyes and has just a few pin feathers to go on his blood red head.. he is pretty! I am starting him on s76. About how long should I keep him isolated? once I finish the s76 period?
ALSO..how often should the flock be treated for canker with Ronivet??

Re: Quarantine Period..
The S76 requires 3 weeks for full dosage. 2 days a week for 3 weeks.
I personally will allow the bird into the other bird population if after the 3 weeks no other problems have arised.. Congrats on your new gouldian

Re: Quarantine Period..
I've heard, and usually have my birds in quarantine for, a full 4 weeks.

Re: Quarantine Period..
I do 1 month.
But also week after the last S76 treatment, if that is later than the 1 month, because of when I start the S76 treatment.

Re: Quarantine Period..
I guess many people treat for everything while in quarentine. Some meds may not be used together so the time period for quarentine would be longer. I usually only treat if the bird has problems. Feather mites can be detected, Air sac mites can be detecte also under a light to the throat. Worms will show up in thier poop, etc.
I do treat for ASM simply because I will be observing the birds and thier poop for the next 3 weeks anyway. During this time I also acclimate them to thier new foods and the temperature they will be place into.
I will also add that I rarely bring new birds into the flock and then it is from a private breeder who sells clear birds.
