2 eggs!

Post by Chainey » Thu Nov 01, 2007 12:37 am

Ok so now we have egg No 2...great...but not so great is that the male (Squawk) has been taking OUT the nesting material, especially today. Theres hardly anything left other than a few pieces of tissue and a couple of pieces of grass. It wasnt a great nest to begin with so to see this happen I'm guessing isnt good? Should I do anything or let nature take its course?

Cheers!

How are they doing now? Did the babies hatch?

Well we went from 5 eggs to 4 back up to 5 then down to 2 then up to 7 and I havent had a look in the nest since yesterday morning to see how many there are now but one was kicked out of the nest about an hour ago. Nothing has hatched as yet :(

The male was building the nest then by the end of the day demolishing it. I'd put more nesting material in, he'd do the same again. Last weekend I went and bought nesting material including feathers and made a nest myself, put the eggs in (only took 3 seconds) and although he threw out all the feathers he's left the rest of the nest.

I guess time will tell....

Thanks for asking :)
