sudden problem with male finch
I have 2 males and 1 female-all are white finches-they have finally hatched 6 eggs about 9-10 days ago everything was fine. i went to ffed them tonight and noticed a baby on the bottom of cage and then observed one male kill it and then he went into nest and started pecking the others so I took both males out and placed them in a seperate cage. My question is can the female take care of babies on her own and will she? or should i just return the males and let nature take its course. I am very upset at this turn of event they were doing sooo well.

Thank You
Thank you all for your responses. I reintroduced what I believe to be the "good male" back into the cage and I am watching them very carefully to see what happens. Wish my babies well I will let you know how they do.

First let me thank you all for your wonderful support and suggestions. The babies (5) seem to be doing well. I hear a lot of peeping when the parent is in the nest feeding. they have their eyes open and have some feathers coming in. My husband is going to try to take some pics of the babies so I can post them on here. I tried to with my camera but the pics did not come out well at all. can't wait until they come out as fledglings and watch them learn to feed themselves and learn to fly they are soooooo cute.
