Star Finch Mutation Breeding?

Post by saragoescrazy » Sat Oct 07, 2006 1:46 pm

Okay, I have two yellow females and one red female... as well as two red males and one yellow male. I'm wondering if a yellow and red face will breed? Is it possible for that to happen, I mean I know they're the same bird and all... but I have to ask. I just couldn't find any females for my two males I had since I had no idea that my yellow initially was a male, so I got a red male for him thinking he was a her... embarrassing...

But yeah, will red and yellow faced stars breed successfully? Also any tips for getting them to breed?

One of my males (the yellow) keeps sitting in the nesting box but I think the yellow females may be too young for they show no interest... but the red female responds when he grabs a stick and starts dancing with it... any tips?

Check out the species info on the Finch Information Center,

Note: There are additional links at the bottom of that page.
