Two male Gouldian finches with one female - Problems?

Post by anneenna » Mon Feb 25, 2008 9:59 am

I currently have two male Gouldians with a female zebra companion and they all are getting along fine. If I introduced just one female Gouldian to the mix would I be asking for big trouble or not? I would not have a next box in this setup and would plan to then seperate the female and male Gouldian that developed a bond together to another cage before trying to breed them. What do you think?

I would nOT risk it during breeding season Nests or not the males will possibly pick on the zebras as well as each other,,,

Anneenna, the best option according to me is to choose a male Gouldian and pair it with your new female. Observe them carefully and see if the pair bonds.

If they do, great and let them breed if they don't bond try the other male. This way you ensure there is no fighting for position and at least your Zebra will not be alone.
