hello.
im thinking ahead, for when i get the aviary up..
im thinking of getting and breeding zebras and societys. i hear that zebras shouldn't be colony bred. basically, my question is, can they both be bred at the same time. if they could my idea was to catch and put the zebras in breeding cages and let the societys breed in the flight.
good/bad ?
any sugestions?
Cheers!

I haven't colony-bred either species, but the Zebras are so territorial, I would worry about them breeding in an aviary. They also tend to get into other nests, rob nesting material, etc. The Societies should be fine in a colony setting, so your plan to cage breed the Zebs and aviary breed the Societies should work. Both those species breed pretty much any time.

Hi, I've colony bred zebras for years in a fairly large aviary, in my scenario I had no control of who pairs up with who and there was some fighting, but nothing too serious.
BUT I agree with Sally, you will have more success if you separate the Zebras to a breeding cage. The advantage is that you can then pair specific pairs together and you eliminate all territorial fighting.
