together in the nest box

Post by stephen379 » Sun Jun 01, 2008 4:18 pm

i have a male zebra and femle zebra in breeding cage they have 3 nest boxes, i havent seen them mate during the day but i have now noticed that early evening they both seem to go into he nest basket is this a sign that they are about to mate or just a comfort thing they have been in the cage for about 10 days now. the hen seems to be slightly bigger than the male is this normal in zebras.

They might have mated in the nest usually for me i catch them mating in there nests. but they might always be checking everything out and getting familiar with there enviornment. Sometimes the female may appear to be bigger then the male from being puffed up or even just be bigger. i have a few pairs where the male is bigger and other where the females bigger. Butr if you have a nest in the cage and they sem to get along you will most likely see eggs soon.
