MY ZEBS HAVE BUILT THE NEST

Post by stephen379 » Tue Jun 17, 2008 5:52 pm

Hi all i am fairly new to the bird keeping, so here goes. i have an outdoor 6x4 aviary flight off my shed i have about 6 white females and 4 male zebras. i put up nest baskets and a large box, one pair have built a nest in the box with all the materials i gave them, and they seem to be in there a lot hopefully success for them, also all the nest baskets i have put up have nests built in them is this a sign that breeding will take place and is it true finches mate in the nests and not on perches.

This is a good sign they might start breeding or already have and might have eggs. I have seen mine mate in the nest and on the perches.
Society Finches, Fire Finches, Strawberry Finches, Owl Finches, Plum Head Finch, Goldbreast Waxbill Finches, Orange Cheek Waxbill Finches, Blue Capped Cordon Finches, Zebra Finches, Bronzewing Mannikin Finches, Red-Cheek Cordon Blue Finches, and Button Quail

Zebras are almost always looking to breed, so if you have a pair of zebras chances are they're ready to breed. Apart from that, nest building is a positive sign that something might happen, as for the mating you would be very lucky to see the actual process, but I wouldn't worry too much, like I said THEY"RE ZEBRAS.
