Thanks for the advice. I read the info about mealworms, I don't mind chopping the heads off, I have done it in the past when I had red-headed finches, they needed live foods.
I went ahead and placed an order for 1,000 mini mealies so hopefully that will hold me over for a little bit. How many did you order B Camp? What do you guys serve the mealworms in? How do I assure that there's enough while i'm at work and what not....I can't be home to replenish so how should I offer the mealworms to the birds?
Thanks for the advice.
I don't have any finches right now but I used to, I'll try to provide my knowledge around the forum

I just put mine in small glass dish they can't climb out of it . I try to give them some several times a day more if there feeding young But I am retired so I home all day or most of it. I try to keep some whole wheat bran and just put some of that in the dish and just ad the mealworms to it they seem like they find all of them they scratch around to get them
I live in Florida the cost of shipping is as much as the mealys so i usually order 5000 for $20.00 and I put them in small plastic containers and they keep for three or four weeks in refrigerator I feed some to all my finchs that will eat them But make sure when they have chicks they get more
I think if you put them in before you go to work and then when you get home that should do it I hope

Update on the babies!
Alrighty here's the update:
This morning I saw empty shells hanging near the cordon nest entrance so i'm assuming that their babies hatched. They've been greedily devouring meal worms and i'm almost certain that there's some tiny babies in there.
On a sader note I came home from work to find a baby gouldian that just hatched tossed and mutilated (I'm thinking my Star finch got it and pecked it to death). I finally looked in the nest and there appeared to be an infertile egg and a lil gouldian hatchling. I took that hatchling and put him in with a pair of Gouldians that just raised a singleton that fledged....Believe it or not they're feeding him! So hopefully they'll take care of this little chick...I wish I could have gotten to the other one before it was too late

.
The Stars are still sitting on eggs, i'm pretty sure they're infertile. I will candle and toss later on this week if nothing is good in there.
