We purchased four zebra finches approximately six monthes ago. Two died immediately leaving us a male and female. Today I was doing my normal bird cage cleaning and was shocked to find four eggs in the empty nest. The nest they sleep in (that is fully lined with nesting material) has one egg.
Do I need to move the four eggs to the nest they use or the single egg to the nest with the four eggs? Or leave them all alone? How do I best determine if they are fertilized?
My children are ECSTATIC so I am desperately looking for more information to properly care for a breeding pair and hopefully fertilized eggs. Any help you could offer would be sincerely appreciated!
One Pair, Two Nests and Eggs in both?

If you are seriously wanting them to breed then I would move all the eggs to the nest with nesting material and then remove the other one.
For detailed info on eggs and determining if they are fertile, go to the Finch Information Center http://www.finchinfo.com/ and look for the menu on the left. Click on 'breeding" then on 'eggs'.
