went around aviaries today to clean nest boxes ready for breeding, since most gouldians have finished their moult.Only to find that some had already beaten me.And about eight nests had between 10 to 20 eggs already in them?
Not sure as yet what is going on, have some thoughts. But want to know has anyone else experienced this in large numbers.

only four eggs all in the same nest here so far. sounds like you could be in for a busy summer
Addicted to Finches, yes I do admit it.
I pray they never find a cure.

Don't know about other birds being so high in numbers but my Star finches gave me two clutches - first one had 12 eggs (1 hatched), second clutch had 10 eggs. Not sure why as I've heard and read that Stars typically lay 4-6 per clutch.

If you have single pairs it sounds like they've laid multiple clutches. If more than one pair is in each aviary then sounds like several females like the same nests.

My gouldians rarely lay more than 5 or 6 eggs in a clutch.

one pair only per aviary.I have been giving them something to increase clutch size (breeding aid).but have not noticed any huge difference in the other species.although have had a few clutches of 5 to 6 lately, from birds nests that cant be viewed.and a couple that have never breed have this year.
