Hmm...still no eggs

I put my society pair in a separate cage for breeding last Dec. 27. How long does it usually take till they produce eggs? I'm pretty sure that they are male and female. The male sings constantly. They have already built a nest which they stuffed with LOTS of material. I keet them in a spare room so they would not be disturbed.
I've never bred birds before but I seem to have no luck w/ my zebra pair also w/c is kinda odd since zebs are said to be very eager breeders. My zeb pair would sleep in their nest but never laid any eggs.

I think if it is pair they will have eggs,just give them a little time are they a young pair?

If they are a pair they should lay eggs. i had a pair of socities and they didnt start laying eggs until a month after putting them a cage to themselves. they actully bred faster in the flight cage but were able to raise their first babies when they were in a cage to themselves.

I have the same exact situation. I got my pair just about the same time, a few days after Christmas. At first, they were sleeping on top of the nest box, then inside and they started removing all the nesting material. This week they just started breeding and nesting . No eggs yet but they keep adding more and more material. I'm most positive I have a pair but only the eggs will say for sure. It will be funny if the one I think is a female turns out to be a male, but I'm pretty sure.

Just wanted to add. I don't know if you just got your pair or you had them for a while and just put them in a separate cage to breed. Mine came from a bird store and I believe the one I think is a female could have just finished with a clutch before I got her. Everything sounds promising as long as you have a pair, I think patience is the key

Hi, guys!
I got my societies mid December and the nice lady I got them from tells me they are approx 2 yrs old though she never bred them. I kept them with 2 other female societies and 4 orange cheek waxbills before I separated them and put them in their own cage. I just put more hay in the cage this morning and they continue to put it into the nest which is close to overflowing, lol! I still hear them communicating with the other 2 societies w/c are downstairs, maybe they all miss one another. They were all so sweet and would cuddle close nightly.
I guess you guys are right...patience...

I was in the same boat with my zebs. I had a number of them together, to see who paired up, and then separated the pair. I was getting a little frustrated, since I'd heard they were easy breeders, they started building the nest as soon as I put it in, but no eggs. I think they've been in the cage together about 2 months, and they just finally laid 2 eggs on New Year's day. That's all they ever ended up laying, and they're sitting tight, but I won't know for almost another week if they're fertile or not. She won't let me near 'em, and I won't push it.
