first clutch of fall 2015

Post by josh1810 » Tue Oct 13, 2015 7:27 pm

So i am proud to announce my first set of gouldian babies are her for fall 2015 breeding. I had 5/7 babies hatch this week.

There is 2 greens, 1 dilute, and 2 yellow babies... i am so egg-citied about the outcome. Great start for the year. There is a possibility that those could be silver babies if my eyes are not playing tricks on me with their mouth nodules. I'm hoping for yellows though!!!

Wish they could be still for GOOD pics.

The father has a cross beak. I posted about it last year. The parents took a hung out of his beak close to his face. In spite it all he weaned, and fed himself. Now he is feeding babies. I NEVER would have thought he could feed babies with that beak. I try to keep it trimmed down real good once a month. He know when im coming to get him. Also he scrathed his eye the day he came out of the nest. So again another strike against him. But since he is such a good dad. He will never be sold.

He came out with some pretty descent colors to have had it so ruff. He actually colored up almost first. Since they have 5 babies now, if they raise them all one more round hopefully 4 babies. They will get taken down early. I may make them a special award. Lol

Congratulations and best of luck
From a pair of BH.PB.SF Pastel and BH.PB.Gb you will not get Pastel Blue ("silver") unless both parents are split to Blue and then the Pastel Blue chick will be a hen. Any Pastels (Yellow) will also be hens.

Congrats josh1810 !!!

Are any of the new parents from the Port Arthur bird show this year?
My YB pair had one baby (they are first time parents) and took great care of "Rain"....so far so good. They are on another nest now. They are laying small clutches but I'm OK with that. I just want them to be good parents and care for their babies. Can't wait to see how your babies color out! Good luck!!!

Jenny,

These are home raised babies from some of my pairs.

I have both of their parents here. So they are grandparents this year.

Congratulations! Both parents are beautiful, and the babies are cute too. I didn't even know you could tell the color of the hatchlings by their mouth nodules. I'm learning more and more everyday :D
