I believe I saw an egg this morning

I've been checking every morning this week when I clean and feed the birds. I see at least one egg so far but it's hard to tell because I have the nest inside in the back of the cage. I have to stand on a chair and peek in, lol! Anyway, here's hoping

LOL! I wrote on my calendar, 18 days from the first egg I believe? Now I will not try to look and just keep my fingers crossed I hear little peeps in a few weeks or so

Have a quick ? Does anyone give their breeding birds bread soaked in milk for added calcium/nutrition? I've read that on another site and I tried it one time with the societies and they seemed to enjoy it. They eat everything with relish, I love it! It just doesn't seem too popular anymore I guess with the other supplements out there.

Birds cannot digest lactose, which is in milk.

I don't know how much of a problem that would be.

I give my birds bread soaked in water. Then I sprinkle on it whatever I need to give them (feather fast, etc....) They LOVE soaked bread in water. Especially the gouldians.

Thanks all. I'll try it with the water instead just in case. It would be nice if my goulds try it too

I may need to try feather fast. My poor Gould male is definetly in full moult. I guess it was just the beginning because every day he looks worse, poor fella. Sure doesn't stop him from singing and eating though

Your Gouldian is in a full molt and it paired up with a hen and she laid eggs? YIKES this is not good as chick rearing demands a lot from him as well as the molt.

Chris my Societies are sitting on eggs not my gouldians. I beileve now there are 3 eggs and they are in the nest quite a bit. Keeping fingers crossed

Just wanted to update. Not much I can see anymore. I believe there are at least 3 or more eggs in the nest but they are sitting now. One of them is always in the nest. If one is out the other is inside so can't see a thing. I'm so curious but I know it will be a while before they start hatching if they do. Now the waiting game begins

I made my first batch of sprouted seed yesterday. I gave to all the birds and they really seemed to enjoy it. I think it will be a good first food for the babies too so I'm going to continue to make it now.
